Threshold Singers of Cincinnati Visit Maple Knoll Residents

The Threshold Singers of Cincinnati, a group of singers dedicated to signing for those struggling with difficult life circumstances, have been sharing their talent with those in the community for years. This talented and caring group has now decided to add the residents in the skilled nursing unit at Maple Knoll Village, a continuing care retirement community in Springdale, to the roster of those they visit. The talented group has been together for ten years, and focus primarily on singing for those going through an illness and those near death. This group of women has been directed by Faith Lester and Kathy Mahony for the past seven years. The group has been visiting Maple Knoll for the past 3 months and visit every other week. L,ester said “Maple Knoll is such a beautiful place and friendly atmosphere. To us, this outreach is our calling and we love sharing it here.” Chaplain of Maple Knoll, Nancy Vilaboy said the residents love it. She shared a story of one resident who was hesitant until she heard singing in the next room, then asked for the singers to be sent to her room next. Now she never wants them to leave. The Threshold Singers is a national group with smaller chapters, such as the Cincinnati chapter. Most songs are written by members. If patients like to sing, the group will invite them to sing along. The group encourages people to join the choir. Rehearsals are twice monthly. Interested singers can contact them by calling 513-260-5695 or by emailing 002
