“My Life” Summer Work Experience Successful at Maple Knoll

ResCare Workforce Services, Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency and the Hamilton County Board of County Commissioners have developed the My Life Summer Work Experience program and it has been adopted by Maple Knoll Village. The purpose of My Life is to provide work experience that is meaningful and valuable to young people to assist them in obtaining employment in the future. The way it works is that participating businesses receive employees at no cost to them. In addition, the employees gain skills and experiences to help them succeed in the future. Maple Knoll adopted this program just this year. This summer they had 13 student interns obtained through the program in work areas such as home health, nursing, human resources, administration, and more. Daric Freeman, a Maple Knoll intern in the My Life program said, “I have never experienced working in an office before and it is much different than I was used to. I want to be a physical therapist someday so it’s nice to have this opportunity and experience other sides of healthcare.” All participants in the program must be 14 years or older. Once accepted into the program, employees work with professionals to obtain real work experience, designed to prepare them for future careers. Maple Knoll will be continuing this program in the fall for a new set of employee interns.
