Maple Knoll Village Residents Show Award Winning Talent at Statewide Art Exhibit
Maple Knoll Village, a continuing care retirement community in Springdale, is home to residents with a variety of incredible talents. Some of the residents showcase their creativity and talent in Leading Age Ohio’s annual art and writing show.
Leading Age Ohio includes nearly 300 nonprofit retirement organizations and service providers. The goal of Leading Age Ohio is to improve the quality of life for Ohio seniors that are cared for by their members. The annual art and writing show is one way Leading Age can do just that.
Maple Knoll Village residents jumped at the opportunity to creatively express themselves and 32 entries were submitted from the campus. Of these 32 entries 10 talented individuals received awards!
Resident Cathy Korra won Best of Show for her piece Winter Woolies. There were three residents who received a first place honor this year. Resident Helen Haberstrom won first place in Fine Arts Division 1 with her piece “Dunes at Dawn”. Judy Sinclair took home first place in the Woven Arts category with “Gray Shadow”. Nancy Cooley, showed off her writing skills once again this year. Nancy won first place last year as well as this year with a first place ribbon in Poetry with “Summer Storms”. Nancy also received second place in the category of Prose Non-Fiction for her piece “Working in the Office”.
Ann Pugh took home third place for her 3D creation “A Little Lady in Purple”. Ann Harlan received third place in Wearable Art for a beautifully made purple scarf. Patricia Worthen was another resident honored with third place in the Prose Non-Fiction category with her piece “Scattered, Scatter, Scattering”. She also won second place in Poetry for “a.m.”. Resident Marilyn Yungk completed the Maple Knoll winner’s with an honorable mention in Prose Non-Fiction for “Unexpected Guests at Christmas”.
