Independent Living Frequently Asked Questions

The length of the waiting list for independent living varies depending on your desired neighborhood on our campus. Please contact our Corporate Director of Marketing, John Ammerman at 513-782-2715, regarding the waiting list and application process.

The application fee to get on the waiting list for any independent living neighborhood is $500 for one person and a couple.

The application fee to get on the waiting list for your desired accommodations is $500. The application fee will process your application and place your name on your desired neighborhood’s waiting list. If there is any question regarding financial approval for our community, we will review a completed application to determine financial approval before taking an application fee.

All of the independent living neighborhoods of Maple Knoll Village do include the following in the monthly fee:

  • All utilities
  • Weekly housekeeping
  • Lawn and home maintenance 
  • 24-hour security
  • 24-hour emergency assistance
  • Planned activities, social, cultural, and educational programs
  • Scheduled transportation
  • Beecher Place Apartments include a meal plan
  • Wellness Center with fitness room and pool
  • Cable, Internet, and Phone

We seek to remove the burden of managing these things yourself, as it can be more difficult for some residents. 

Yes! Pets are allowed in our independent living neighborhoods.

You would contact our Residential Services Manager, Erin Navaro at 513-782-2428 who would assist you. One option is to bring additional help into your home through private duty care. We will provide you with the names and contact information for several companies. Alternatively, residents may move to a higher level of care such as one of our assisted living or skilled nursing accommodations.

Contact our Residential Services Manager, Erin Navaro at 513-782-2428. If there are apartments available, then you will be given a tour of those apartments. Once you decide on an apartment, it will be made ready for you, and you will line up the mover of your choice. If there are no available apartments, we will place you on the internal waiting list.

There is no entrance fee for current residents seeking to move to Assisted Living. A new resident to Assisted Living is required to pay a non-refundable occupancy fee. It is equal to one month’s rent.

As a non-profit organization we work to raise funds to provide compassionate care for our residents. This means that no resident will ever be asked to leave for financial reasons. Before your resources are depleted, you will make an appointment with our Chief Financial Officer and he will work out a financial plan with you. Anyone who receives financial assistance through the Future Care Fund will remain confidential.

Residents can enjoy the  Village Green located on the Maple Knoll Village grounds. This park-like area harbors 29 species of trees in our newly accredited Arboretum and includes a pond, pergola, sculptures, winding walkways and benches for your enjoyment.

We have a shuttle bus that can transport you around the campus and also weekly to an area grocery store. This transportation is a free service. We also have a private chauffeur that will take you anywhere you want to go. There is a nominal per-mile fee for this service. You can also get assistance with setting up transportation through Uber Health.

Maple Knoll Village has a lawn care company that takes care of the grass and landscaping. However, if you notice something that needs attention such as weeds, dead plants, tree limbs that need pruning, etc., you can simply call our service desk and we will initiate a work order.

Yes, we have several employees that are notaries. You can either call the Service Desk or our Residential Services Manager to obtain this information. There is no fee for this service.

The average age of a person in Independent Living at Maple Knoll Village is 84 years old.

Maple Knoll Village’s transportation amenities, including a chauffeur for hire, on-demand shuttle service and three full-time bus drivers, ensure that residents have access to off-campus activities, doctor’s appointments, and grocery stores, and all other transportation needs.

Our full-time security team works hard to guarantee the safety of all residents through daily check-ins, 24 hour call service, and wellness checks upon request.

The Maple Knoll Village ServUS Lab – Powered by AHEAD Technologies

The ServUS Lab is a one-of-a-kind space that combines technology with non-technical services to provide a one-stop-shop for our residents. Within the ServUS Lab, residents can mail letters, send packages via UPS, FedEx and USPS, catch an Uber, order grocery delivery directly to their villa or apartment, access voice assistive technology through Alexa, and purchase tablets or smart lighting. They can also get one-on-one assistance and gain access to continuous learning through that educational programs held at our Knowledge Bar.

Technology Service and Amenities at Maple Knoll Village

Our knowledgeable in-house IT staff helps both the business and our residents by troubleshooting issues, giving guidance on technology, and offering a more personal experience. Residents at Maple Knoll Village have access to the following technological services and amenities:

  • Free Enterprise WiFi (indoors and outdoors), phone Service and voicemail. Worry less about scheduling installations with the phone and internet providers and spend more time exploring your new home!
  • State of the art Personal Emergency Response systems (PERS) – Life safety devices monitored 24/7.
  • Digital access to activities, dining menus, announcements and more through:
    • In-house cable channels with live and recorded broadcasts
    • Alexa Integration to My Community – Simply ask Alexa what’s for dinner or what todays activities are.
    • Resident App – On demand access to activities, announcements, dining, transportation, handbooks and more!
University of Cincinnati Collaborations

Formally affiliated with the University of Cincinnati, our residents gain access to unique opportunities. Residents can get involved with technology research projects by becoming testers and providing valuable feedback to develop new technologies.

We have a Residents’ Council made up of elected members representing the five areas in Independent Living. Under the Council are five committees: Safety, Buildings and Grounds, Activities, Technology, Hospitality, and Food. A Chairperson appointed by the President of the Residents’ Council heads these committees. The committees consist of both council members and non-council members. A staff member joins each committee.  The committees meet separately each month before the monthly council meeting and report to the council. The purpose of the Residents’ Council and it’s committees is to bring suggestions and concerns back to Administration for consideration. Residents’ suggestions are always welcome whether they are part of the council or not.

Maple Knoll Village provides our residents with a basic cable package consisting of approx. 75 channels. Residents who want to enhance their offering will need to contact Spectrum and add those services. You will only need to pay for the additions, though.
